- Patient/Family Volunteers provide both practical and emotional support
to hospice patients and their family members. Activities often include home
visits, regular phone calls, respite care to the caregiver or running errands.
Volunteers are specially screened and trained. They come from all walks of life;
many of them have suffered the loss of a loved one making them especially
compassionate to the needs of others. A 20-hour training program is required.
- Office Volunteers help with tasks such as answering phones, preparing
mailings, filing, scrap-booking or other tasks depending on the skills of
the volunteer and hospice needs. One-on-one training and orientation is required.
- Special Event Volunteers help plan and staff special activities such as
our annual Time of Remembering, twice annual blood drives in partnership with the Oregon
Red Cross and our noodle booth fundraiser at the Sandy Mountain Festival.
